This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Chandler Rivers, the No. 97 name on the board, stolen at the Round 4 slot. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Reaching for Parker II left real value on the table behind him. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
The board had Caleb Banks higher than Round 2, Pick 20, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A real head-scratcher, Brian Parker II in No. 84 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
They will replay Chandler Rivers at the Round 4 slot for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Reggie Virgil in pick No. 160 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They talked themselves into Aiden Fisher at slot 201, and the board did not agree. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Robert Henry Jr. in pick 236 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaac Smith. A minor itch, scratched.
