The Ravens put a flag in the ground for Anthony Lucas, 65 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Landing Hall that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Xavier Hutchinson gives the group a proven body among the projects.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 28th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Malachi Lawrence at slot 38 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Anthony Lucas at No. 45 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Keylan Rutledge well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They left a pile of value on the table to take CJ Daniels this early at the 115th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid sticker price for Zxavian Harris in Round 5, Pick 7, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Vincent Anthony Jr. in Round 5, Pick 22 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy little value on Ar'maj Reed-Adams in slot 173, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Matt Gulbin in pick 174 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
TJ Hall in the 250th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Eli Heidenreich at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
