The search is over. The Patriots handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
The Rosemy-Jacksaint pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
The Mitchell pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Drake Maye in pick 3, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Somehow Adonai Mitchell was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 18, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had cheaper options than Cooper Beebe at the 68th pick, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at pick No. 97 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dylan Laube at the 136th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nothing to complain about; Roger Rosengarten went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A quiet steal in slot 229: Jalen Green for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
