They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The Beebe steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The cost of the Gore Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
Jackson Powers-Johnson in No. 36 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Patrick Paul at Round 2, Pick 8, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Brenden Rice went about where he belonged in slot 67. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Cooper Beebe in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A big swing on Darius Robinson at pick 103, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They talked themselves into Frank Gore Jr. at pick No. 148, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Michael Barrett in the 181st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
