The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Curtis Jacobs fell into Round 6, Pick 28.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 13
In pick 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Byron Murphy II · DL · rank 40
By-the-book stuff, Byron Murphy II at No. 41 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 58
No edge and no loss on Edgerrin Cooper in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 78
Cooper Beebe slipping to the 88th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Malachi Corley · WR · rank 79
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Malachi Corley in Round 3, Pick 28. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 121
Darius Robinson in the 125th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 139
Malik Mustapha at pick No. 135 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Curtis Jacobs · LB · rank 179
The board fumbled Curtis Jacobs all the way to slot 203, and they scooped it up. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Jawhar Jordan · RB · rank 209
Jawhar Jordan in No. 217 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Omar Speights · LB · rank 208
Omar Speights slid further than he should have, and the 219th pick is lovely value for the linebacker. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · J.J. Weaver · LB-EDGE · rank 228
J.J. Weaver at pick 246 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
