Philadelphia Eagles

Best value of the weekend goes to the Eagles for Clark: A-.

by Howie35 · 2024 NFL Draft · 20 picks · 15 steals · 3 reaches
Value A-
Need B
Trades A+
Future B

The rest of the league will want that one back. De'Corian Clark tumbling to the Eagles in pick 243 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Capehart reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

It is a haul that will look even better come September.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Olumuyiwa Fashanu · OT · rank 10
Olumuyiwa Fashanu slipping to slot 24 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R1.31 · Pick 31 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 19
Nice patience on Kool-Aid McKinstry, who had no business lasting to pick No. 31. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R2.30 · Pick 62 · Troy Franklin · WR · rank 24
You do not let a wide receiver like Troy Franklin reach No. 62 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.1 · Pick 65 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 27
Brian Thomas Jr. at pick 65 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.8 · Pick 72 · Ja'Tavion Sanders · TE · rank 54
Circle this one: Ja'Tavion Sanders at the Round 3 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 72
Trey Benson is a better player than Round 3, Pick 24 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Josh Newton · CB · rank 59
They barely believed it either: Josh Newton still on the board at the 91st pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.31 · Pick 94 · Tyler Davis · DT · rank 96
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Davis at the 94th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Spencer Rattler · QB · rank 91
Spencer Rattler at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 127
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tommy Eichenberg in Round 5, Pick 1. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R5.31 · Pick 167 · McCallan Castles · TE · rank 152
They let McCallan Castles come to them and pounced at No. 167. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Dylan Laube · RB · rank 146
Steal is underselling it; Dylan Laube at the 172nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.38 · Pick 174 · Josh Proctor · S · rank 187
Josh Proctor in pick No. 174 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.39 · Pick 175 · Edefuan Ulofoshio · LB · rank 156
They robbed the room for Edefuan Ulofoshio here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Nehemiah Pritchett · CB · rank 142
Somehow Nehemiah Pritchett was still sitting there in pick 179, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.9 · Pick 184 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 155
A running back of that caliber at slot 184 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Michael Barrett · LB · rank 183
Michael Barrett in pick 212 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Dylan McMahon · C · rank 243
Dylan McMahon at the 230th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · De'Corian Clark · WR · rank 200
The board fumbled De'Corian Clark all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.34 · Pick 254 · DeMonte Capehart · DT · rank 275
DeMonte Capehart in slot 254 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
