New York Giants

Best value of the weekend goes to the Giants for Clark: A-.

by Poloplop · 2024 NFL Draft · 9 picks · 2 steals · 0 reaches

Future A+

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Giants were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.

Clark falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Giants clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

On the needs board they went 4 of 9, with safety the one that mattered most.

In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.17 · Pick 17 · JC Latham · OT · rank 18
In No. 17 they get a blindside protector. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 44
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Calen Bullock. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R2.17 · Pick 49 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 47
They took Patrick Paul at par in slot 49, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Adonai Mitchell · WR · rank 73
Adonai Mitchell at pick 78 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.5 · Pick 105 · Danny Stutsman · LB · rank 101
Fair-plus on Danny Stutsman, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R4.14 · Pick 114 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 107
Tate Ratledge at the 114th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.17 · Pick 117 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 113
Javion Cohen in pick No. 117 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.8 · Pick 183 · Miyan Williams · RB · rank 172
Miyan Williams at Round 6, Pick 8 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.20 · Pick 195 · De'Corian Clark · WR · rank 171
De'Corian Clark at slot 195 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
