Dallas Cowboys

Ewers should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Quinn Ewers, the No. 92 name on the board, stolen at No. 170.

If Dellinger pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.14 · Pick 14 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
In the Round 1 slot they get a featured back, and a steal at that.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 22
Jalon Walker at the 44th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Jayden Higgins · WR · rank 69
Jayden Higgins at slot 76 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.16 · Pick 80 · Omarr Norman-Lott · DT · rank 71
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Omarr Norman-Lott in the 80th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.11 · Pick 150 · Charles Grant · OT · rank 94
Charles Grant in pick 150 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.13 · Pick 152 · Hollin Pierce · OT · rank 113
Hollin Pierce in pick No. 152 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.31 · Pick 170 · Quinn Ewers · QB · rank 92
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Quinn Ewers in No. 170, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.33 · Pick 172 · Bhayshul Tuten · RB · rank 150
Bhayshul Tuten at Round 5, Pick 33 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.35 · Pick 174 · Tommi Hill · CB · rank 152
Tommi Hill in the 174th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.12 · Pick 190 · Jaylen Reed · S · rank 181
Jaylen Reed at pick 190 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.33 · Pick 211 · Jack Kiser · LB · rank 198
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jack Kiser at slot 211 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.31 · Pick 249 · Garrett Dellinger · OG · rank 281
A real head-scratcher, Garrett Dellinger in No. 249 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
