When a board-topper like Ro Torrence slides to pick No. 202, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Mahogany proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper in No. 41 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
By-the-book stuff, Kamren Kinchens at the 58th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Nice patience on Kris Abrams-Draine, who had no business lasting to pick 88. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They liked Christian Mahogany enough to skip the value, taking him in the 91st pick. It fills a real need, too.
Isaac Guerendo in Round 4, Pick 26 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Marist Liufau at slot 169 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Ro Torrence in the Round 6 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy bit of business in the 219th pick, where Jared Wiley graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Josh Proctor in the Round 7 slot, and that is fine. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A slide stopped in pick 255, with Jalen Sundell worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
