Whoever sat across the table from the Eagles should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Reaching for Raym left real value on the table behind him.
The Fatheree II pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kamari Lassiter at pick No. 53 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A quiet steal in the 65th pick: Jonah Elliss for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jermaine Burton in No. 70. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ruke Orhorhoro at Round 3, Pick 22 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Adisa Isaac. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Junior Colson at the 120th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Blake Fisher slid further than he should have, and slot 124 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Nice patience on Cedric Gray, who had no business lasting to pick 137. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Theo Wease slipping to Round 5, Pick 11 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Billy Bowman Jr. at par in No. 158, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Lathan Ransom in pick 172 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Andrew Raym, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Reuben Fatheree II at the Round 7 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
