You can draft well and still miss the point. The Browns did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
Getting Payton where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The Riley Moss pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Emmanuel Pregnon at pick 39, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Keionte Scott at the 70th pick is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Michael Trigg in No. 107; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A quiet steal in pick No. 141: Eli Raridon for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Isaiah World at Round 5, Pick 6 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Malik Benson slipping to pick 149 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jimmy Rolder at Round 6, Pick 25 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
