The rest of the league will want that one back. Malachi Fields tumbling to the Giants in the 105th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Steal is underselling it; Malachi Fields at the 105th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 5, with Hezekiah Masses worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Aamil Wagner in pick No. 168 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Marlin Klein at slot 186 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Aaron Anderson in pick 192 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
J'Mari Taylor in No. 193 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No drama and no debate, Aiden Fisher went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
