The curious call sets the tone. With quarterback and running back still glaring, the Jets used the 89th overall pick on Deontae Lawson, a linebacker they were not exactly short of. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Fuller to cover a lot of smaller sins. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a problem off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In No. 16 they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on CJ Allen in pick 33; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.

A tidy bit of business in pick No. 179, where Febechi Nwaiwu graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They read the board right and Zavion Thomas was the payoff at slot 228. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Andre Fuller at No. 242 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
