The 49ers did not so much draft Trey Moore as overpay for him, 39 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
The McNeil-Warren value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in pick No. 60. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A tidy little value on Jack Endries in pick 127, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Fair-plus on Parker Brailsford, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid up for Tim Keenan III at slot 138 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trey Moore in No. 139, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
