This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Lathan Ransom, the No. 105 name on the board, stolen at the 144th overall pick. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Majors proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get a lead back with juice. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid sticker price for Tyler Booker in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A straight-up fair deal on Jayden Higgins at slot 69, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
TreVeyon Henderson at Round 3, Pick 13 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
A real head-scratcher, Jake Majors in pick 106 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Steal is underselling it; Lathan Ransom at the 144th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Dont'e Thornton Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Jay Higgins still on the board at the 220th pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Brandon Adams in pick No. 238 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
