Boards are made to be trusted, and the Chiefs shredded theirs for Jehiem Oatis. He came off 87 spots early, and the room will hear about it. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Emmanwori falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
The board had Josh Conerly Jr. higher than pick 63, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tyler Warren at the 70th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They reached into another round for Jayden Higgins, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A safety of that caliber at slot 132 is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Woody Marks in No. 167 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Logan Brown in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jehiem Oatis at slot 255 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
