The Chiefs' one glaring miss is tight end, a need they left exactly as they found it. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That is an edge rusher worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Williams pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Adonai Mitchell at par in the Round 1 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They jumped the gun on Kingsley Suamataia, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They let Brandon Dorlus come to them and pounced at pick 95. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Jaylin Simpson in pick No. 131; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Mason McCormick at the 158th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tahj Washington at No. 188 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Miyan Williams at the 252nd overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
