Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Commanders were there to profit. Dontay Corleone, the No. 67 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 147. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 16 they get a double-digit-sack hope, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Avieon Terrell at the Round 2 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 7 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Dontay Corleone in pick 147, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: Malik Benson still on the board at the 187th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Tanner Koziol was still sitting there in the 209th overall pick, and they pounced on premier tight end value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Steal is underselling it; Keagen Trost at pick No. 223 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
