Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Eagles spent pick 210 on Carson Steele, a name most had 116 spots down the list. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Pritchett.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
No edge and no loss on Kris Jenkins in Round 2, Pick 18; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Payton Wilson in pick No. 53 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
No drama and no debate, Blake Fisher went about where he belonged in the 120th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Nehemiah Pritchett here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tyrone Tracy Jr. in slot 171, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tip Reiman in slot 172 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Carson Steele at No. 210 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
