The Packers went off the board in a big way for Carter Bradley, 49 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Melton.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Morgan in Round 2, Pick 9. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Ricky Pearsall in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value with a capital V on Max Melton in the 88th overall pick, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jaden Hicks in slot 91 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A conviction pick on Roger Rosengarten at No. 126 that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid up for Ty'Ron Hopper at the 169th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They liked Logan Lee enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 202. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Jordan Magee in slot 219; it is a wash and a sensible one. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Carter Bradley in pick 245 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tyler Owens at Round 7, Pick 35 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
