When a board-topper like Keon Coleman slides to No. 58, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The Mahogany reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at the 41st pick squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Somehow Keon Coleman was still sitting there in slot 58, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No drama and no debate, DJ James went about where he belonged in No. 88. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reach for Christian Mahogany in the 91st overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Ben Sinnott in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Sione Vaki at Round 5, Pick 32, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
