Boards are made to be trusted, and the Patriots shredded theirs for Elijah Roberts. He came off 107 spots early, and the room will hear about it. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
Landing Walker that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Adding Dallas Turner by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 17 they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
They barely believed it either: Tyler Warren still on the board at pick No. 38. The roster fit checks out.
Fair-plus on Matthew Golden, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Jalon Walker at the 69th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Elijah Roberts at the 77th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Andrew Mukuba in slot 105, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let a safety like Malachi Moore reach No. 126 and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Taking Jared Wilson in the Round 5 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
