The Bears clearly saw something nobody else did in Max Bredeson, taking him 114 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
However the rest shakes out, Allen at that price is a win they earned. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
The Myles Garrett deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They read the board right and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren was the payoff at the Round 2 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
CJ Allen in No. 63 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Sam Hecht in slot 89 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Darrell Jackson Jr. in pick No. 95 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Kevin Coleman Jr. at pick 129, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Jaydn Ott at par in the 239th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached a country mile for Max Bredeson at Round 7, Pick 25, and the board is aghast. It adds depth where they could use a little.
