After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Landing Watson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Guerendo has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 1 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value.
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They let Xavier Legette come to them and pounced at the 46th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Sedrick Van Pran at the 75th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Isaac Guerendo at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A premium they did not need to pay, Javon Foster a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
They liked Mohamed Kamara enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 122. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Dwight McGlothern all the way to pick 181, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nathaniel Watson in pick 234 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
