After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
The cost of the Wiley reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On value alone, Legette makes the weekend a net positive.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 1st pick they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Dallas Turner at the Round 1 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jordan Morgan in pick No. 41 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They let Xavier Legette come to them and pounced at slot 46. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Braden Fiske at No. 58, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Renardo Green at pick 75 squarely in line with his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaac Guerendo. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Jared Wiley at the 158th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
