The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Bo Nix, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Sainristil falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 1 they get a No. 1 receiver. A real need, handled.
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In pick 25 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 110th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Justin Eboigbe at the 127th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Malik Mustapha is a better player than slot 146 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They did well to land Julian Pearl in the Round 6 slot, just ahead of his grade. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
Blake Watson slipping to No. 232 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
