Chicago Bears

The Bears did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

The Bears went off the board in a big way for Sam M'Pemba, 210 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Hunter at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Dillon Thieneman · S · rank 35
A reach for Dillon Thieneman in the 25th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Lee Hunter · DT · rank 48
The board had Lee Hunter higher than slot 57, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.28 · Pick 60 · Jake Golday · OLB · rank 59
No edge and no loss on Jake Golday in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Treydan Stukes · CB · rank 96
Treydan Stukes in pick 89 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.29 · Pick 129 · Jaeden Roberts · OG · rank 150
Jaeden Roberts in the 129th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.23 · Pick 239 · Tyler Onyedim · DE-EDGE · rank 273
Value said wait; Tyler Onyedim in No. 239 says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.25 · Pick 241 · Sam M'Pemba · LB-EDGE · rank 451
They reached into another round for Sam M'Pemba, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
