The Bears spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Robinson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. That Newton pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jayden Daniels and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a true top target at fair value.
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Bralen Trice at pick No. 39 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tyler Guyton at the 53rd pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A slide stopped in slot 75, with Josh Newton worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Leonard Taylor III at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Darius Robinson at pick 122 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Layden Robinson at No. 146 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board had Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint higher than the 158th overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
