The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Landing Phillips that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 9 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
In No. 13 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 27th pick they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Brian Thomas Jr. in Round 2, Pick 3. A need, and now a little less of one.
They took Ruke Orhorhoro at par in slot 71, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cooper Beebe in the 75th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Leonard Taylor III in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good price on Sataoa Laumea in pick No. 128, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at slot 146 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board fumbled Andru Phillips all the way to the 197th pick, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They did well to land Dylan McMahon in pick 249, just ahead of his grade. The roster fit checks out.
