The Chiefs cashed the board's mistake on Smith-Wade: A-.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Chau Smith-Wade got past him. The Chiefs do not have to explain a thing at the 173rd overall pick.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The kind of weekend a front office frames and hangs on the wall.
Pick-by-Pick
T'Vondre Sweat in the 64th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
DJ James at No. 77 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Brenden Rice at the 95th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Matt Goncalves reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Chau Smith-Wade in Round 5, Pick 37 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
No edge and no loss on Frank Gore Jr. in slot 223; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
