This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kool-Aid McKinstry, the No. 19 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 53.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
A cornerback of that caliber at pick 53 is the definition of value, full stop. It adds depth where they could use a little.
No edge and no loss on LaDarius Henderson in Round 5, Pick 22; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kitan Oladapo in No. 186 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Omar Speights at slot 199 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kurtis Rourke at the 242nd overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
