The Texans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jordan James fell into Round 4, Pick 25. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They will need Nash to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
They jumped the gun on Cameron Williams, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Alfred Collins in Round 2, Pick 29, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Dylan Fairchild still on the board at No. 87. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Circle this one: Tyler Warren at the Round 3 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Deontae Lawson at pick 122 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
