The Texans torched the value chart for Rondell Bothroyd, taking him 47 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
T'Vondre Sweat at the 59th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Malachi Corley at pick 85 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Tommy Eichenberg went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 23. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Isaiah Adams at pick No. 127 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Frank Gore Jr. in the 164th pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Rondell Bothroyd in pick 239 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Myles Jones at the 248th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
