The Bears clearly saw something nobody else did in Tony Rojas, taking him 127 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The Igbinosun pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a bendy edge with upside, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and A.J. Haulcy at the Round 2 slot is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Dani Dennis-Sutton in the 63rd overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 27: Connor Lew for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Davison Igbinosun in No. 129, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jaeden Roberts at pick No. 131 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
DJ Campbell at the 165th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Adam Randall this early at Round 7, Pick 4. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, J. Michael Sturdivant in pick 239 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
A big swing on Tony Rojas at slot 241, well ahead of any board in the building. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
