The board owed the Bengals one, and it paid up: Kamari Ramsey, the No. 74 name on the board, sitting there at No. 110 like a gift left on the doorstep. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

They are betting Kamara proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.16 · Pick 16 · Arvell Reese · LB · rank 7
In No. 16 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, outstanding value to boot.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Chris Johnson · CB · rank 32
Chris Johnson at pick No. 41 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.20 · Pick 84 · Christen Miller · DL · rank 56
Somehow Christen Miller was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.10 · Pick 110 · Kamari Ramsey · S · rank 74
You do not let a safety like Kamari Ramsey reach the 110th pick and blink. They did not. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Mikail Kamara · DE-EDGE · rank 152
Mikail Kamara at the 120th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R4.40 · Pick 140 · J.C. Davis · OT · rank 138
J.C. Davis at pick 140 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
R5.39 · Pick 179 · Aaron Anderson · WR · rank 175
A tidy little value on Aaron Anderson in slot 179, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.8 · Pick 189 · Dae'Quan Wright · TE · rank 179
Nice patience on Dae'Quan Wright, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 8. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.18 · Pick 199 · Jeff Caldwell · WR · rank 186
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jeff Caldwell at the 199th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.5 · Pick 221 · Kaelon Black · RB · rank 211
A quiet steal in No. 221: Kaelon Black for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
R7.10 · Pick 226 · Thaddeus Dixon · CB · rank 214
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Thaddeus Dixon in pick 226. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
