The rest of the league had time to spare on Jackson Sirmon; the Cowboys did not wait, grabbing him 54 spots ahead at slot 244.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
No edge and no loss on Braden Fiske in pick 56; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Audric Estime in Round 3, Pick 24 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Marist Liufau in pick No. 174 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Andrew Raym at the 216th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Cornelius Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
