The rest of the league will want that one back. A.J. Haulcy tumbling to the Cowboys in No. 92 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Every board in the league had Caldwell lower, and that gap is the story. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th pick they get a three-down second-level presence. The biggest hole, addressed.
In No. 20 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, A.J. Haulcy in Round 3, Pick 28, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Nice patience on Treydan Stukes, who had no business lasting to pick 112. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took Zxavian Harris at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jeff Caldwell at slot 177 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Febechi Nwaiwu in the 180th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid sticker price for Noah Whittington in pick No. 218, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
