Nobody else had Frank Crum anywhere near pick No. 255. The Packers did, by 39 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Landing Rosengarten that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Quinyon Mitchell at the 37th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nice patience on Edgerrin Cooper, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Kamren Kinchens in pick 88 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Trey Benson at slot 91 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Brenden Rice at the 105th pick is the proof. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Roger Rosengarten at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
A slide stopped in pick 202, with Cornelius Johnson worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Dominique Hampton at the 219th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They took Bub Means at par in No. 245, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They reached a country mile for Frank Crum at slot 255, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
