Nobody else had C.J. Hanson anywhere near No. 233. The Cowboys did, by 34 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. They banked enough surplus on Trotter Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Ruke Orhorhoro at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Jeremiah Trotter Jr. still on the board at slot 87. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dillon Johnson at pick No. 174 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jaylan Ford in Round 6, Pick 41 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A big swing on C.J. Hanson at the 233rd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A real head-scratcher, Matt Lee in the 244th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
