The rest of the league will want that one back. Chase Lundt tumbling to the Cowboys in slot 236 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The cost of the West reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a mismatch in the passing game. A clean fit for the roster.
Kaleb Johnson at the 44th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Emeka Egbuka in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Cameron Williams at the 58th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Xavier Restrepo slipping to pick 81 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Carson Schwesinger in No. 82 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Marcus Mbow was still sitting there in pick No. 86, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Sebastian Castro at par in Round 3, Pick 25, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They robbed the room for Danny Stutsman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jordan Phillips in the 118th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let a running back like Cam Skattebo reach the Round 5 slot and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Will Howard in the 170th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
They will replay Jay Higgins at slot 172 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Tommi Hill at pick No. 174 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They talked themselves into Addison West at pick 177, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Taking Chase Lundt in No. 236 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; KeAndre Lambert-Smith at Round 7, Pick 25 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
