The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Landing Wallace that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. The Thomas reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 2 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
They took Ladd McConkey at par in the 36th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Cooper Beebe in Round 2, Pick 8 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Kiran Amegadjie went about where he belonged in slot 67. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Cade Stover at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Cam Hart at pick No. 100 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Roger Rosengarten in pick 139 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A premium they did not need to pay, Xavier Thomas a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They read the board right and Caedan Wallace was the payoff at the 222nd pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
