Everything else got attention, and edge rusher got none. That is a strange way for the Packers to leave a draft. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They are betting Bortolini proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nothing to complain about; Xavier Legette went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Payton Wilson in No. 58; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Fair-plus on Jaden Hicks, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A straight-up fair deal on Dominick Puni at pick 91, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Isaac Guerendo at the 126th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached a country mile for Tanor Bortolini at slot 169, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid up for Garret Greenfield at pick No. 202 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They went early on Dominique Hampton in No. 219, and the value did not follow. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
