Start where it matters. The Commanders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
On value alone, Suamataia makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 2 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 36th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They read the board right and Nate Wiggins was the payoff at Round 2, Pick 8. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Javon Bullard slipping to the 67th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A tidy bit of business in No. 78, where Max Melton graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They robbed the room for Kingsley Suamataia here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
