The rest of the league will want that one back. Blake Corum tumbling to the Commanders in the Round 6 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Johnson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
The Budda Baker pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Jayden Daniels and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Xavier Legette at No. 36 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Edgerrin Cooper at Round 2, Pick 8 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They took Patrick Paul at par in pick No. 67, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Darius Robinson in slot 81 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Khyree Jackson in the 90th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Theo Johnson well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Beau Brade went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 152nd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let a running back like Blake Corum reach pick No. 186 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They read the board right and Logan Lee was the payoff at the 222nd overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
