The tape said wait; the Chiefs did not. Theo Johnson went at No. 95, a good 41 picks before the board was ready. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. That Jones pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick-by-Pick
They talked themselves into Xavier Worthy at the 32nd pick, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Good price on Darius Robinson in slot 42, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A big swing on Gabriel Murphy at pick No. 64, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Theo Johnson. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cody Schrader at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jarrian Jones in pick 158 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Walter Rouse in the 172nd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
