The Cowboys bet big and early on Eyabi Okie-Anoma, 40 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.
The Lee pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on Troy Fautanu, who had no business lasting to Round 1, Pick 32. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Xavier Legette still on the board at slot 56. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Trey Benson at No. 87 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 95 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They liked Jordan Jefferson enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 6 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They did well to land Nathaniel Watson in the 216th pick, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nathan Thomas in the Round 7 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Logan Lee all the way to pick No. 233, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at pick 244 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
