This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jaxson Dart, the No. 127 name on the board, stolen at the Round 6 slot. It washes out to a C, no better and no worse.
The Slackman reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Adding Raekwon Davis by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 14 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. More want than need.
They liked TreVeyon Henderson enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 2 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No drama and no debate, Kenneth Grant went about where he belonged in No. 60. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ozzy Trapilo well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Evan Stewart at pick 84 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Rylie Mills in the 113th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A real head-scratcher, Alfred Collins in slot 151 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nazir Stackhouse in the 155th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid sticker price for Jonah Coleman in pick 169, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Joey Slackman this early at pick No. 170. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach on Logan Brown in slot 172; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Shilo Sanders at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A minor itch, scratched.
They will replay Jaxson Dart at No. 209 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
