Somewhere a general manager is explaining how TreVeyon Henderson got past him. The Cowboys do not have to explain a thing at No. 150. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Spending an early pick on edge rusher with wide receiver, cornerback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
The Stackhouse reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A reasonable price with a little left over, Abdul Carter in slot 13. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A curious use of Round 2, Pick 12. Wide receiver, cornerback and other spots needed the pick; an edge rusher in James Pearce Jr. did not.
The board fumbled Kaleb Johnson all the way to pick No. 82, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tight end of that caliber at No. 122 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for TreVeyon Henderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Jordan Burch at the 169th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A real head-scratcher, Nazir Stackhouse in pick 170 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Sonny Styles at the 171st pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
You do not let a linebacker like Cody Simon reach the 190th pick and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They went early on Bryce Foster in Round 6, Pick 17, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Miles Frazier at pick 209 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
