Best value of the weekend goes to the Cowboys for Mustapha: C+.

When a board-topper like Malik Mustapha slides to the Round 6 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not.

They will need Allen to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

If T'Vondre Sweat and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.3 · Pick 35 · T'Vondre Sweat · DL · rank 60
They reached into another round for T'Vondre Sweat, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Jackson Powers-Johnson · C · rank 51
Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 56th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 74
They took Blake Corum at par in pick No. 71, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 105
Khyree Jackson in No. 87 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 155
Braelon Allen at pick 104 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.4 · Pick 140 · Edefuan Ulofoshio · LB · rank 156
Edefuan Ulofoshio in slot 140 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.16 · Pick 191 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 166
They barely believed it either: Kitan Oladapo still on the board at Round 6, Pick 16. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R6.19 · Pick 194 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 139
Taking Malik Mustapha in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 240
A real head-scratcher, Nathaniel Watson in the Round 6 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Donovan Jennings · OT · rank 248
Donovan Jennings at pick 246 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
