Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Cowboys spent the 233rd overall pick on Eyabi Okie-Anoma, a name the board had a full 51 spots lower. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Jones. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Payton Wilson in the 56th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
By-the-book stuff, Trey Benson at No. 87 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Jarrian Jones in slot 174 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They barely believed it either: Fabien Lovett still on the board at pick 216. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at the 233rd pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Nice patience on Nathan Thomas, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 24. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
